Cancer treatments cause a number of side effects, and some of the most painful include radiation burns, injection site irritations, and rashes.
My father suffered from a painful, embarrassing acne-like rash when he was going through treatments. I tried to help him with a high-end, sensitive cream, but it only made his skin worse. I felt so terrible!
Rescue & Relief Spray
After that, I vowed to create products that would help soothe and calm skin irritations without harsh ingredients that would exacerbate redness and dryness. I’m particularly proud of our Rescue + Relief Spray. This product was named the “best after-sun soother” by Healing Lifestyles & Spas in 2014 because of how quickly it soothes that burning feeling. Because of the great ingredients, however, it also helps tame inflammation and hydrate skin.
“I LOVE Rescue + Relief spray!,” says Karen Lee, retired chiropractor, mom and green blogger of EcoKaren.com. “I couldn’t believe the red and angry inflamed areas started to disappear within hours. The thin milky spray has a pleasant odor and it has a very refreshing natural scent. Not a chemically induced or artificial smell. It dries quickly and it seemed to get absorbed rather quickly, without dripping down to a waste. It left the skin very soft and smooth and my kids said it felt cool almost immediately.”
Whether you’re suffering from radiation burns, IV irritation, flushed skin, rashes, itchy scalp, eczema, rosacea, or even irritation after shaving, CV Skinlabs Rescue + Relief Spray provides instant, soothing relief and cooling, while encouraging skin to heal.
Soothing Radiation Burns
When I wrote my book When Cancer Hits, I talked to a number of survivors about side effects. Radiation burns came up again and again. These occur at the treatment site, and can get worse the more treatments you have. Sometimes, they can get so tender that you have to put off your next treatment to allow the skin to heal.
Any delay in your cancer treatment can be discouraging, as it prolongs your healing and also extends the time that you have to endure side effects. So dealing with these burns becomes a priority.
When treating these types of burns, the standard, over-the-counter petroleum-based product just won’t cut it. Petroleum covers the skin, but does nothing to nourish or heal it, and can actually contribute to more dryness over the long-term. Chemical preservatives and fragrances can also contribute to the irritation and pain.
Instead, what you need when treating radiation burns is a) something to cool it down, b) something to heal it, and c) something to hydrate it. This is where the Rescue + Relief Spray comes in.
“When your skin is inflamed and sensitive from a sunburn or other sensitivities,” says Frank Lipman, integrative doctor and founder of Eleven-Eleven Wellness Center, “it’s extra important to treat it with serious TLC. For that, I recommend Rescue + Relief Spray by CV Skinlabs.”
Here’s how this product works to relieve radiation burns:
- Provides instant, cooling relief—especially if you store it in the refrigerator
- Delivers hydrating moisture while calming and soothing inflamed skin
- Aloe leaf juice soothes on contact
- Chamomile and cucumber work together to provide cooling and softening benefits
- Water lily naturally purifies and absorbs heat
- Valerian and comfrey tame inflammation, calming skin down and encouraging faster healing
- Unique Tri-Rescue Complex promotes wound-healing and speeds the repair of damaged skin
As you can see, I’ve used plant-based ingredients to remove the heat and hydrate the skin, as they are more biocompatible than synthetic ingredients and less likely to cause reactions. I made this product specifically for those with sensitive, compromised, and tender skin. Apply by simply spraying on the burned area as often as needed.
Tip: Take it with you and apply immediately after your radiation treatment before getting dressed to help your skin get a head-start on healing and to help reduce burning and stinging. (I would also recommend applying our Restorative Skin Balm after the spray has dried for long-lasting moisturization.)
Other Benefits of This Product
In addition to soothing and cooling radiation burns, you can also use this product to:
- Relieve itching, burning and inflamed red skin caused by: sun exposure, minor burns from cooking or using hot tools, insect bites, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, dermatitis
- Soothe skin after shaving—makes an ideal after-shave for men
- Tone skin after cleansing (much better than an alcohol-based toner!)
- Set make-up and add some hydration over makeup

- Calm inflammation from scalp folliculitis
- Hydrate, soothe, and help heal rashes

Customers Rave About the Results
When it comes to products, it’s the results that really matter, right? So let me share with you what some people have said about Rescue + Relief Spray.
Celebrity makeup artist Beverly Fink loved the results when she gave the product to a client’s daughter who was going through chemotherapy.
“She used this on her scalp and it brought immediate soothing relief to her tender scalp while calming her irritated skin. Amazing!”
Terry, a regular customer, couldn’t believe how much it helped her when she suffered an eczema outbreak. “I used the spray and It was glorious! It was immediately cooling and refreshing. The itching subsided. I’m not sure how Rescue + Relief Spray works, but bottom line is: IT WORKS!”
Here are the before and after pictures of showing how the product helped her skin to heal:
Helena, another customer who suffers from psoriasis, had this to say:
“I tried the R + R Spray during testing and I loved it! I have psoriasis on my scalp and it extends down onto the back of my neck. I would spray it on and it would soften the tight, dry and itchy area of my neck and scalp. I felt relief soon after I sprayed it on. The other thing I love about it is the texture. Other ointments I’ve used are heavy, thick or oily and smelly. They are often hard to wash out of my hair and make my hair greasy when applied. The R+R Spray was so light and non greasy that I could put my hair up after application and it wouldn’t make me self conscious at all, my hair would dry. Thank you so much for a great product!”
Christine Lilienfeld, an oncology nurse in Boston, Massachusetts, says she likes all the products, especially for treating radiation induced skin irritation: “The Rescue and Relief Spray provides instant benefit to irritated skin,” she says.
If you suffer from red, burned, flushed, irritated, and stinging skin, I hope you’ll try this product as I know it will help you feel better! I started CV Skinlabs because I was frustrated I couldn’t find natural, soothing products during my cancer experience, and my father’s cancer experience. I’ve put my heart and soul into these natural solutions so that others don’t have to suffer from difficult skin conditions we did. I hope you, too, will experience the soothing relief these products can provide!
